A four-year program in General Internal Medicine is offered for those physicians seeking a career as generalists.
Program Outline
Residents apply midway through their second year of Internal Medicine.
The third year is similar to that of other residents in the "core" program but includes the addition of a weekly longitudinal GIM clinic and participation in other academic activities of the Division of General Internal Medicine.
During the fourth year, the resident spends four months on the GIM consultation services and the remainder of the year can betailored to the needs of the individual. A maximum of six months in any individual subspecialty is permitted.
Seminars and Rounds
Residents participate throughout both years in the rounds, Journal Club and other activities of the Division of General Internal Medicine.
