PGME WORKSHOPS

The Office of Postgraduate Medical Education offers a series of workshops that are open to residents and fellows from all programs. These workshops address the CanMEDS roles of Communicator, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, Scholar, and Professional.

Most workshops are offered each year at about the same time; a few are offered in alternating years. Registration forms are sent to the programs well in advance.

  • The Department of Medical Science graduate program offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in medical education. Applications should be addressed to the graduate coordinator:

CSCI/CIHR RESIDENT RESEARCH AWARD

The Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation (CSCI) and the Canadian Institutes of Health research (CIHR)co-sponsor an annual Resident Research Award Program. This prize is awarded each year for the best resident research project conducted during an RCPSC/CFPC residency training program at each Canadian medical school.

PGME RESIDENT RESEARCH TRAVEL GRANT

A limited amount of funding is available to support residentconference travel to present original research conducted at the University of Calgary. This funding is available for Ministry-funded residents enrolled in RCPSC or CFPC residency training programs.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
  

NEW! The CRIEE (Canadian Remote or Isolated Elective Experience) is open to pre-clerkship electives, clerkship electives and residents with an elective location in a rural or isolated area within Canada. 
A remote community is located over 350KM from the nearest service centre with year round road/water access. An isolated community has scheduled flights and good telephone service but is without year-round road/water access.  Learners can have travel and accommodation expenses reimbursed by CRIEE through the DLRI office, for up to $2000.  Original receipts must be included. If air travel is to be claimed the original boarding passes must be included.
