The AMA is honouring seven Faculty of Medicine members in recognition of their distinguished service, long-standing service and long-term membership.  Dr. Ian Lange and Dr. Eldon Smith have been awarded the AMA Medal for Distinguished Service for their outstanding personal contributions to the medical profession and to the people of Alberta, and for raising the standards of medical practice.  Dr. Chip Doig, Dr. Ron Garnett, Dr. David Hogan and Dr. Daniel McGowan have been awarded the AMA Long-Service Award, recognizing their contributions of knowledge, skill and time to the advancement of the profession. The distinction of Member Emeritus, which recognizes significant contributions to the medical profession, seniority and long-term membership with the AMA, has been awarded to Dr. J. Paul Ryan.
