Fundraising can be an exciting activity; however, it can be complex. The following guidelines should be followed to ensure your fundraising initiatives are a success:

  • Cheques should be made out to the University of Calgary. The specific program that the donor is donating to should be written in the memo line.
  • As per Canada Revenue Agency regulations, charitable donation receipts can only be given to the individual that submits the donation, i.e. only the individual or organization who issues the cheque is eligible for a receipt.
  • All donations must be processed through the Fund Development office if the donor wishes to receive a charitable donation receipt.
  • When submitting donations to the Fund Development Office, please include a note with the account number attached to the account in which the donation should be deposited.
  • Please include the original mailing envelope with all donations.
