Welcome!!
CNUG 2nd Annual Conference - open to all Health Care Stakeholders
The CNUG Conference at Banff Park Lodge will be a very exciting place to be on May 1st and 2nd , 2009. Key themes that we will develop during the conference, in addition to the advancement of new and innovative technology, will be the building blocks of a new health professionalism. We will begin the conference by tackling the very compelling notion of patient involvement in their health care. That will be followed by some other 'visionary' discussion about the future of EMRs globally. In addition to this futuristic theme we will engage in a lively debate about the reimbursement mechanisms for physicians in Canada, with exploration of the "pay for performance" mechanisms of which QOF in the UK is an example.
We will highlight another fundamental of this new world of health professionalism, data sharing within and between organizations. We will look at the legal and social implications of sharing between networks of primary care and specialty care, that include other roles of care providers such as pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, and psychologists. To support the notion of data sharing we will also open up the "SNOMED Dialogues" with a number of key leaders from across Canada. Data coding, and the technology needed to support and capitalize on it, is key to future progress in health care.
We have deliberately tackled some of the bigger issues in the electronic deployment of healthcare so that this conference becomes a place for health care stakeholders to debate, agree, disagree, and become passionate about their work. As well, we will have a number of workshops and ongoing display of technology advances in the electronic world which will help facilitate the 'blue sky' and 'green grass' discussions generated by the philosophical engagement of health care leaders. We expect that attendees, whether they are CEOs, CIOs, MDs, RNs, PTs, PMs or other "coal-face workers", will get a tremendous amount of personal value from the two days of non-stop engagement.
Conference registration details will be available soon through our CNUG website: http://www.cnug.ca/.
